1) Our main goals are to carry out research activities pertaining to technology-aided Language Education and to encourage research collaboration in this field among researchers in Malaysia, South-East Asia, and worldwide.

2) Main focus is on technology-assisted language learning and teaching as well as language assessment and evaluation.

Areas of Expertise and Strength

The five thrust areas of this field are:

• Technology-aided Language Teaching – studies on issues related to improvement on teaching, learning, and language training employing technology.

• Active Learning Using Technology – deals with practical techniques and approaches using technology to encourage learner-centred learning.

• Technology-based Assessment of Teaching/Learning Devices Programme – focuses on research and tutorials involving assessment on current technological devices which could be utilised in language teaching and learning.

• Research-based Investigation – supports relevant research and deals with issues pertaining to synchronous and asynchronous technology applications such as mobile applications.

• Publication – prepares and submits papers and manuscripts to journals and other relevant sources.
