The heart of a book is its story. Get that right and readers will overlook a lot of other lapses. Get it wrong and your book will not be saleable. One of the challenges that new writers face is the difficulty of creating a plot with the right structure. The goal of the workshop is to guide new aspiring writers in building the first basic plot for a story. The participants will be working in groups to create stories using the common plot structure in an engaging activity.

Choral reading is reading aloud in a class or a group of students. It can build students’ fluency, self-confidence and motivation. Less fluent readers can participate without embarrassment as they read aloud in a group. It can provide them the opportunity to practice and receive support before being required to read on their own. It also provides a model for fluent reading as students listen. Choral Reading materials includes books, magazines, newspapers, electronic media, comics, jokes, poems/verse. Through repeated readings of the text, the reader increases sight word vocabulary and ability to decode words quickly and accurately. This fluent reading enables the reader to spend less time on decoding and have greater comprehension of the text.
