The Language Academy, UTM in collaboration with Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas Vokasional (SMPKV) Indahpura, Kulai, Johor, have organized an English Language Camp at the Hutan Bandar Kulai and Aeon Library, Kulai on 3 October 2017. 29 students from SMPKV Indahpura participated in this event and are assisted by 12 facilitators from UTM and their own teachers from SMPKV Indahpura. The objectives of the camp are to increase the students’ interest to use English in their daily lives, to increase the students’ motivation and confidence level to communicate in English and to increase their English vocabulary. The camp started off at the Hutan Bandar Kulai with a stimulating ice-breaking session called Earthquake, coordinated by Miss Siti Khadijah binti Abdul Wahab. Other activities that follow include Win, Lose or Draw, Heads Up, Phrasal Verbs, Word Search and Kahoot Quiz. The second phase of the camp took place at the public library at Aeon Kulai with a lesson on making origami monster bookmarks. The event ended with a prize giving and certificate presentation and speeches by Senior Assistant Curriculum of SMPKV, Puan Zaidah Mahadi and the Dean of LA, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abdul Halim bin Abdul Raof.
