The 1st Asia to Japan International Seminar was held at Pasona, Tokyo from 11 till 14 December 2017. It was held to bring together foreign universities and the Japanese industries mainly in the area of providing university graduates the opportunity to start a career in Japan. Around 25 giant industries participated in the seminar. 5 UTM students from the Japanese language class who have reached the JLPT N3 level were selected for interview sessions at the seminar. Mr.R.Kumaraguru, the Japanese language lecturer from Language Academy was the plenary speaker who presented the talk on “ Japanese Language Education in Malaysia and The Uniqueness of UTM’s Japanese Language Program”. He was also invited to talk at Ikubunkan International High School on “ Internationalization in Malaysia and Opportunities to further studies at UTM”.
Out of the 5 UTM students, 4 of them were successful in securing a job offer. They are :
Ms. Amirah Adnan ( FK) at R&D Kao Japan
Ms. Ismah Imani Ahamad (FKM) at R&D Kao Japan
Mr. Albert SiaKahDak (FKE) at Solize Japan
Mr. Kiong Wey Seng (FKE) at Ushio Japan
Mr. Choong Mun Tho (FKE) at Yamaha Japan (Pending Final Interview in February 2018)
All of them will start their job from September 2018. The companies have requested them to polish their Japanese Language communication skills till then. All accommodation and flight expenses for the students and lecturer to attend the seminar were borne by Asia to Japan.
