Brief History

  • 1972 – Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) was established
  • 1973 – School of humanities was established and Islamic Studies courses was offered
  • 1993 – Islamic Education Department has been changed to the Department of Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Management and Human Resource Development
  • 1995 – Social Service Unit and Department of Islamic Studies was incorporated and located at Masjid Sultan Ismail
  • 1996 – Islamic Studies and Social Development Centre (PPIPS) have declared its inception by the university
  • 21 May 2009 – Faculty of Islamic Civilisation was established
  • 12 July 2010 – Approval of Master of (Halal Science) and PhD (Fiqh of Science and Technology) programme
