Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching 

The Applied Linguistics and Language Teaching (ALLT) research group is formed to bring together the many different fields of study related to the use of language in the community. The research group studies, among others, how a language is taught, learned, and used from the perspective of education, applied linguistics, psychology and sociology at higher education institutions and schools. The formation of the group is aligned with the vision of UTM which is to encourage research activities among academics. 

What we do

 

1. To foster and develop competitive research culture among group members which will enhance motivation and encourage commitment to achieve the university’s KAI in the research niche area.

2. To conduct research activities related to the teaching and learning of L1/L2/foreign languages at university, school, and other educational contexts.

3. To improve the quality of research and the quantity of Principal Investigator (PI) among research group members.

4. To encourage research collaboration among researchers in the fields of applied linguistics, and teaching and learning of L1/L2/foreign languages in Malaysia and internationally.

    Our Latest Work

    1. Sumitomo Grant Application: Sharing of Experience on 23 September 2020. 

    2. A session with Adjunct Professor, Prof. Dr Zuraidah Mohd. Don on 12 October 2020. 

    3. Several RG members have submitted research proposals to secure grants such as from the Sumitomo Foundation, and the Digital Society Research Grant (MCMC).

    4. Upcoming activities include presentations at Knowledge Sharing Sessions, publication of journal articles, and participation in research-related webinars.
