Language Academy Summer School offers an exceptional experience for tertiary students worldwide, especially those who are beginner-level English users (A1 and A2 on the CEFR scale) or who learn English as a foreign language. This programme provides students with practical English communication skills crucial for future professionals, helping them develop the confidence and ability to discuss field-related matters in English.
The Summer School, which takes place twice annually at the UTM campus in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, offers an exploration of the rich and diverse Malaysian culture, the vibrant UTM campus, exciting learning excursions outside the campus, and lasting friendships with UTM buddies.

Language Academy Summer School Programme
English Language & Malaysian Culture
The Summer School offers lessons in English and immerses students in Malaysian culture. It covers topics such as arts, nature, sustainability, technology, and sciences. This helps students become familiar with Malaysian culture while gaining educational experience at UTM.
Classroom Learning
The summer school features five core modules: vocabulary enrichment, pronunciation made easy, oral communication, oral presentation, and journal writing, which includes two main assignments: a written journal for documenting memories of their Malaysian experience, and an oral journal for expressing personal insights, relationships, and cultural explorations, both in class and through an online platform (i.e. Instagram).
Field Trips & Leisure Activities
The summer school organises excursions around Johor, including visits to local farms, national parks, museums, shopping malls, and opportunities to experience traditional food, music, and arts. Furthermore, the program includes on-campus experiences with international facilities and modern technologies. Students also engage in cultural exchanges with their UTM buddies and participate in sports activities.
