Programme:

Date : 24-25 February 2016
9.00 am – 4.30 pm:

Talk:
Language Assessment in Schools
In this talk Prof O’Sullivan explored the way in which both assessment and teaching had changed (or not) over the years. He discussed the key areas of need in classroom-based assessment and consider how we could work to improve this critical aspect of our learning systems.

Workshop:
Reliability in Marking Student Texts
In this workshop, participants explored the area of consistent and accurate marking of student work. This would range from identifying language-specific ideals (based on a pre-exiting model) to the creation of a systematic approach to correction and feedback. By the end of the workshop, participants were ready to apply the lessons learnt and the approach suggested in their own classrooms.

Objective
• To explore the needs of classroom-based assessment and find ways to improve this critical aspect
• To determine ways for consistent and accurate marking of student work
• To create a systematic approach to correction feedback
