Teaching of English as a Second LanguageWho should enrol?
Master of Education in TESL is programme is designed for those who wish to become specialised professionals in the field of TESL. Students will gain theoretical and practical knowledge on key principles of language acquisition, language teaching methodology, discourse, current research methodology and applications of statistical analysis to conduct research projects. This programme is also very unique because it enriches students’ skills in developing innovative products that address the current needs of teaching and learning. In preparing students to be future ready educator, the programme allows students to translate theory into practice and will equip them to become adept language practitioners.
Programme duration:
Students can complete their study in a minimum of three (3) semesters to six (6) semesters. That is about 1 year a half to 3 years. The Master of Education (TESL) is awarded after the successful completion of 45 credits hours on various courses, depending on the mode taken.
Class time:
- Weekdays
- 4pm to 7pm

Programme structure:
Students could choose to take any of the mode below:
- Taught Course
- Mixed Mode
- Full Research
For Taught Course, students are to spend most of their time attending classes and doing assignments. They are to take 11 subjects and to conduct a single research project (Research Project 1 & Research Project 2).
The Mixed Mode, is slightly similar to the Taught Course but students are to spend more time on their dissertation. Both modes have exams or Final Exam Equivalent Project at the end of every semester.
For the Full Research, students are to attend fewer classes, most of their time is dedicated on their thesis, supervised by their lecturers.
