UPPF 6033 Dynamics of Leadership
This course is intended to encourage students discover and develop their personal leadership qualities. They will be exposed to leadership theories so that they could develop an insight that leadership itself is a dynamic relationship based on mutual influence and common purpose between leaders and followers. Levels of analysis of leadership theory: individual, group and organizational.
MPPU 1003 Innovation in Learning and Teaching
The course will introduce students about the concepts and process of innovation in teaching and learning. Students will be able to apply process of innovation in teaching and learning through a series of case study. At the end of the lesson, students will propose a new innovation related to teaching and learning. The proposal should also include the elements of entrepreneurship.
MPPU 1024 Research Methods in Education
This course discusses the process of conducting research in education. More specific, the discussion will explore perspectives of research activities. Among topics that will be covered are the scientific methods, basic elements of research, research design and approaches, instrumentation, data collection, data processing and analysis and report writing. Three major approaches namely quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method will be explored by given examples and methods. Students will have the opportunity to make decisions on the practicality towards their research project or dissertation through a written proposal
MPPU 1034 Application of Statistic in Educational Research
Statistical reasoning has become one of the people’s fundamental skills because everyday decisions almost always rest on a statistical foundation. Statistical reasoning is not something foreign or separate from us, but rather something that we do all the time. This course is not intended to teach you something entirely new, but rather to increase your skills at doing what you already do, perhaps unknowingly and unskillfully. This basic course in statistics aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to understand and use of statistics in educational research. The scope of the course will cover both the descriptive and inferential statistics
MPPU 1105 Research Study 1
This course is designed to synthesize the knowledge and skills developed in previous class and research courses and apply them to produce the Master Research Proposal. The Master Research proposal is the beginning steps to demonstrate mastery to the field of study and contributes knowledge to the field. Students will focus in all aspects of developing and carrying out the Master Research Proposal. Generally, students should propose the introduction or Basis for the Study, or Orientation to the Problem, Defining the Problem Statement, Writing the Hypotheses or Questions, Writing the Review of the Literature (building a case for the need for the study) and articulating the Study Design in the research proposal. Therefore, students are expected to understand the standards and expectations to meet to be successful in preparing the research proposal. Furthermore, students are required to work closely as appropriate with their supervisor/advisor throughout the course. At the end of the course, students are able to produce a Master Research Proposal that aligns with the policies and guidelines published by the University.
MPPU 1205 Research Study 2
This course is continuation from previous research courses and designed to synthesize the knowledge and skills in the educational field and apply them to produce the Master Research Project. The Master Research Project is the major undertaking that demonstrate mastery to the field of study and contributes knowledge to the field. Students will focus in all aspects of developing and carrying out the Master Research Project. Besides of formulating comprehensive introduction or Basis for the Study, or Orientation to the Problem, Defining the Problem Statement, Writing the Hypotheses or Questions, Writing the Review of the Literature (building a case for the need for the study) and Articulating the Study Design, students are required to analyses data, interpret the results and draw discussions, conclusions and recommendation in the research project. Working closely as appropriate with their supervisor/advisor, at the end of the course, students are able to submit a scientific Master Research Project and align with the policies and guidelines published by the University.
MPPD 1123 Economics of Education
This course presents the principles and methodology for product and process design. In particular, it emphasizes on the key elements of process design which include process creation/synthesis, process analysis and process evaluation in generating inherently safe, economic and environmentally friendly processes. The course features extensive use of process simulation tools through group as well as individual project works.
MPPD 1113 Politics and Educational Planning
This course intends to provide students with the understanding of the concept of politics and its relationship with the educational planning process. Discussion topics will include the concepts of politics, educational policy and planning, education reforms, centralization and decentralization, the issue of inclusiveness planning, distribution of resources, and the relationship between the economic growth and educational planning. The materials distributed in this course will reflect cases from Malaysia as well as from other countries in the world in order to provide a comparative perspective on the issues discussed.
MPPD 1103 Fundamentals of Education and Development
This course discusses the concepts, principles and theories of development and their relations to educational development. It also focuses on the study of theoretical issues from traditional development to modernization and globalization. The course also study on the development from developed and less developed countries. The course also introduces learners with the skills of planning and developing educational programs.
MPPD 1353 Education and Social Cultural Change
This course intends to provide students with the understanding of the concept and elements of social change and culture change and its relationship with education. It will emphasize the concepts, characteristics, influencing factors, models, types and theories of social change and cultural change. The students will also be exposed and analyzed socialization agents in Malaysia, social stratification, social institution, family and school as social institutions, school culture and social changes and social mobility through education. The materials used in this course will reflect cases from Malaysia as well as from other countries in the world in order to provide a comparative perspective on the issues discussed.
MPPD 1343 Women and Development
This course discusses theories and concepts of development in general and also specifically in relation to gender and feminism. Aspects of sociological change in developing countries will also be discussed. In addition, students will be exposed to discussions and materials on topics and issues related to women and development such as globalization, social, education and political development. Students will analyze the situations in each of the area of development involved. In order to provide comparative perspectives, focus of discussions will be on women in Malaysia and also in other countries
MPPD 1323 Education and Family Development
This course aim to provide students with the understanding of the institutions of family and educational relations through the perspective of sociology. Starting from the types of families the relations with the institution of family and other social institutions particularly education will be discussed. Discussion topic include some basic theoretical approaches to family as well. The materials reflect various samples from diverse societies and cultures such as the first world and the third world countries including specifically experiences in Malaysia.
MPPD 1313 Organization Development
This course is an essential exposure to the concepts of organizational development and change using several methods, mainly project management associated with the organizational objectives. Several important topics are developmental concepts, organization, management skills, project, leadership and motivation, strategy and work group. And the end of this course, students is expected to produce a written report and deliver presentation based on team project that related to the knowledge of organizational development.
MPPD 1303 Issues of Moral Development
This course aim to provide with the understanding of “moral development and education” pertaining to sociological perspectives. Regarding to this course concept, it is planned to give a place mainly to the definitions of morality, ethics, development and respective theories. In addition, moral development in education is taken into consideration.
