CASIS offers two research programmes under the School of Graduate Studies (SPS):<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. MHCGA3AKA Master of Philosophy in Islamic Civilisation, and<\/li>\n
  2. PHCGA3AKA Doctor of Philosophy in Islamic Civilisation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Both programmes are research based, which means students are required to produce a thesis reflecting an academic work worthy of such degrees. Graduate Seminars are held each semester to give the opportunity for students to present their research proposals as well as progress reports to the academicians of CASIS. Even though our programmes are research based, students are required to complete a set of courses that would help them develop the required theoretical framework true to the vision of the centre. Courses include the mastery of Arabic language, Fundamentals in `Aqidah and Shari`ah of Islam, Worldview and Epistemic Frameworks, Dewesternisation and Islamisation of Contemporary Knowledge, Islamic Philosophy of Science and Methodology of Science, and other relevant courses.     Evaluation<\/h3>\n

    Evaluation of a Masters and Doctorate degree student by research shall include:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Evaluation of Research Proposal<\/li>\n
    2. A student is required to present a research proposal for evaluation purposes within the duration specified by the University, failing which the student may be given a \u2018Unsatisfatory\u2019 or \u2018TM\u2019 status.<\/li>\n
    3. Semester evaluation by the supervisor via Progress Report during Graduate Seminar (end of semester)<\/li>\n
    4. Thesis examination by the internal examiners<\/li>\n
    5. Oral defense of thesis to a Panel of Examiner<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Grades are used as follows<\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Pass\/Fail for courses with the status of HW<\/li>\n
      2. Withdrawal (TD) of a registered course<\/li>\n
      3. Satisfactory (MM)\/Unsatisfactory (TM) \/Fail (GG) grade for research work<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Program Structure<\/h3>\n

        The Masters and Doctoral program offered by CASIS are a Research only by definition but to ensure our students to follow and understand the philosophy of education promoted by CASIS, we provide pre-requisite coursework throughout the study here. Students are required to take some courses with the HW(check LIST OF COURSES) status with the intention to complete and strengthen some basic fundamental understandings in order to ensure success in their research.<\/p>\n
